Description
Enrofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone broad-spectrum antibiotic commonly prescribed by veterinarians to treat dogs and cats with certain bacterial infections. The bactericidal activity of enrofloxacin is concentration-dependent, with susceptible bacterial cell death occurring within 20-30 minutes.
Composition:
Enrosil Tablets: Each uncoated tablet contains Enrofloxacin 50/150 mg & Excipients q.s. Enrosil Oral Solution: Each ml contains Enrofloxacin 10mg & Excipients q.s.
Pharmacodynamics: It enhances bacterial gyrase enzyme synthesis. It inhibits the DNA synthesis and prevents DNA supercoiling. It leads to cessation of bacterial supercoiling, respiration and cellular division.
Dose: Dogs and Cats, 5mg/kg b.wt. once daily. In Dogs, the dose can be up to 5-20 mg/kg b.wt. and in cats, it is 5 mg/ kg b.wt. only. The dose should be recommended by a Veterinarian.
Indications: Enrofloxacin is highly effective in the treatment of dogs and cats having bacterial infections associated with Respiratory tract, Urinary tract, Gastro intestinal tract and Skin.
Directions for Use: Enrosil Tablet can be given with or without food. If your pet vomits or seems unwell after receiving the medication, try giving it with a small amount of food. Enrosil Oral Solution should be administered in drinking water.
Side effects: The most common side effects of enrofloxacin are gastrointestinaleffects such as vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of appetite.
Caution: Enrofloxacin should not be used in pets that are allergic to it, in dehydrated pets, in small and medium breed dogs under 8 months of age, or in large breed dogs that have not finished their rapid-growth phase. It should be used with caution in pets with seizure disorders, or in pets with kidney or liver disease.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
